Silverton
Nestled in a valley and still covered with quite a bit of snow, Silverton is the terminus of the narrow gauge steam train in the summer months. It is a cute Victorian town that had it's heyday in the late 1800s and early 1900s when gold and silver were discovered in these mountains. Today it is a sleepy town especially when the train does not come in yet; but we found a neat little cafe, the Avalanche, and had hot tea/ coffee and biscotti.
