Baldwin is the last in our group to go down into the catacombs under the church. Here Christians hid during times of persecution. It was an area of burial for Christians. We saw some graffiti left by Crusaders in the 11th century. St Jerome hid here while he translated Scripture from Aramaic to Greek.
