At the end of the hike, we had a cooling swim at the the base of Lemon Falls. But the hike had been a real challenge - the rocks on the path were large, uneven chunks of coral with 3-4 inches of squishy mud. We were given rubber boots so our shoes would not be ruined. Derek wore his brace but held onto the the arm of his minder. All of the helpers spoke only Spanish so you could not make small talk as you tried to negotiate the path - but this was also not possible because one had to pay real close attention to where you put each foot. The next day, Derek complained of a slipping in his knee that lasted a couple of days. We worried about having hurt his ACL repair of 7 months ago. But a visit to the surgeon after we got home reassured up that his knee was fine.
