On February 7, Jack and I flew home to Toronto for a very special little boy's birthday. We left Phoenix with sunny skies and a temperature of 24C. We arrived to a cold - 15C! Our blood has become thinner in the past 6 weeks in Arizona so the cold feels REALLY cold to us. But we packed scraves, toques and mitts and Greg was at the airport with a warm car when we arrived at 8pm. First thing the next morning, our lovely grandson came to visit us in our bed with hugs and cuddles and ready to play. We stayed with Greg and Tara at their home for the week because our car is in Phoenix and our home is closed up for the winter. But we did visit Brantford to pick up our mail and have dinner with our friends Pam and Alan Van Weelden.
We spent 2 days taking care of Dylan while his parents worked. This was grand fun but tiring! Dylan is a busy baby and loves to walk all over holding onto our fingers. He will soon be walking on his own, we predict.
Thursday, February 10 was Dylan's first birthday! After his morning nap, 8 mommies and their 9- 13 month babies came to visit and share small carrot cupcakes and juice. What fun that was!
Oma decorated a teddy bear shaped birthday cake and after dinner, Dylan had help from Mommy and Daddy to blow out his number one candle - then it was digging into the gooey cake and squishy icing - Dylan's first take of a sweet cake.
On Monday, Feb 14 - Oma took Dylan to his swimming lesson and had fun blowing bubbles in the water and jumping off the edge and into the water and getting ALL wet. He loves the water! Then it was time to pack out suitcase and head back to Phoenix and the warmth but with a sadness to say "Good bye". We love our grandson! (and his Mom and Dad)
