This Monday, we met a group of 34 at the flagpole of our RV park and drove to South Mountain Park. From the summit, we could see downtown Phoenix and were higher than the planes landing at Sky Harbor Airport. Our trail was to Hidden Valley through a cleft in a large rock named Fat Man Pass and then sliding down slippery rock and under more piled rocks to the small valley full of saguaro cacti. We exited the valley by a long tunnel of piled rocks, then hiked to a viewpoint where we ate our sandwichs before hiking out. A great group and fun to get to know more people as we hike along. Many in the park are Canadians but mostly from Alberta and BC - guess we have cold enough weather to want to go south for the winter when we retire!
