Great Lakes Area Spring Spree - GLASS Rally

We belong to the Family Motor Coach Association. There are 5 regions under FMCA - the one that we are near is the Great Lakes Area. They hold a rally every May and we have gone for the past 13 years. The attendance was down this year to 65o RVs from 8 - 900 perhaps because of higher fuel costs and the sluggish US economy. At the rally, we can shop at over 50 different vendors, go to seminars with topics of interest for any RVer. In the evening, there is entertainment at the grandstand. There is book swap, ice cream social, and new and used RVs on display from dealers. The weather this year was the worst we have ever had. It began with rain on the way there so the fairgrounds was wet and soggy. Each day it rained, drizzled and/or we had fog. The temps were cool and on Sunday afternoon there was even a tornado warning. They had a "voluntary evacuation" to the next door school. We elected to stay in the Luth's RV (Ed and Alice and Jack and I with John and Alice) We pulled in our slides, took down the TV antenna and unplugged from the electric pole. The winds were strong for about 10 minutes and some heavy rain but really, it was just a big thunderstorm. About 30 miles away, a tornado did hit near Battle Creek.
