This is Wind Cave - our goal on the hike. It is only a worn out cleft in the rock face - that yellow line you saw earlier on the mountain face. It is a softer rock and has been worn away faster than the harder surrounding rock. As we got closer to explore it, we heard lots of bees buzzing - there was a huge hive inside a hole in the rock with very large honeycombs hanging from it. The myriad of blooms in the desertscape around them has made the bees very industrious as they fill their hive. We gave them a wide berth.
