Our next stop is the small town of Ouray. The road from Silverton to Ouray was built in the 1930s and then the cost was $1m so it is named the "Million Dollar Highway" It winds it's way around mountain ledges and through canyons. It was also a mining town but the draw today is the hot springs. They have made a large swimming pool and hot tub for the town that is a wonderful 90F and 103F year round. We ate our lunch here in a park on the Uncomphagre River.
Jack and Mary Jagt are retired from the work of trading in natural rubber (Jack) and Intensive Care Nursing (Mary). They love to travel in their RV - nicknamed the Merrie Yacht. Recently moved from the home they raised their family in to a condo in a smaller town, they now have fewer home responsibilities and hope to be on the road more often.
