Jack and Mary Jagt are retired from the work of trading in natural rubber (Jack) and Intensive Care Nursing (Mary). They love to travel in their RV - nicknamed the Merrie Yacht. Recently moved from the home they raised their family in to a condo in a smaller town, they now have fewer home responsibilities and hope to be on the road more often.

Today, we decided to learn more about the beginnings of human occupation in the area that we love here in the sunshine. Our first stop was the Mesa Historical Society Museum in an old schoolhouse in the center of Mesa. Here was chronicled the stories of the early settlers, farmers and ranchers, and the different ways they arrived in Mesa and how they carved a place in the desert. Later, we visited another museum to learn more about even earlier residents of the valley, the Hohokam Indians.
